I don't know how that slipped past me in the editing process. I will say, however, that it was not because I was smoking.

As to your second point, the term "Robber Baron" is frequently used to describe someone who amasses great wealth through somewhat exploitative and nefarious means. It it contrasted with the term "Captain of Industry", which is a person who amasses great wealth, though goes through the motions of giving back some of the money they have earned. For example, Jeff Bezos is a Robber Baron, while Bill Gates might be considered a Captain of Industry. When I called Omu a "Captain of robbing industry", I was referring to how she falls between the two terms, and how while she definitely paved the way for female businesswomen, she did some unethical things to achieve her wealth. I never said she was stealing anything. Perhaps, had the term been popular in the same context in which it is today, I would have referred to her as a "girlboss", but in 2018, when the article was written, that word hadn't yet aquired the meaning it has today.

As for being interested in describing this great woman, well, yes, yes I was. That's sorta what the "Damn, Girl" series is about. I don't claim to be an expert in Nigerian history, just a humble historian trying to bring to light the lives of as many amazing and unjustly forgotten women as I can. I do my best to correct any errors I make, and I'm more than happy to acknowledge my failings, no matter how rudely they might be pointed out.Irene Carstairshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17911201795640889723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9161708961202647492.post-59129278756333625622021-11-25T00:32:29.527+08:002021-11-25T00:32:29.527+08:00...you started with teing your audience by saying ......you started with teing your audience by saying that Omu Okwei Opene..was born ...Felicia Ekejiuba....and ended up by stating that that the article you posted was contributed by Felicia Ekejiuba. What have you been smoking????
Felicia Ekejiuba happens to be a PhD student under Prof. K.O Dike.. the first African VC of University of Ibadan in the early sixties. All you were probably interested in is describing this great woman...a Queen as a robber. I wonder what you claim to do for a living
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17634093515118180922noreply@blogger.com
